The Dutch Specialist Group of Ceramists, NVK is the association of and for professional visual artists and designers who produce ceramics.For 30 years NVK has been working for its more than 400 members to support them and to look after their idealistic and materialistic interests.NVK offers its members:

• the bimonthly Keramiek (Ceramics)
• individual presentation on NVK’s website
• free listing in the Dutch Guide for Ceramics
• an internet forum to exchange information
• specific support in the field of raw materials, (wood)kiln building and firing
• advice for independent businesses
• training, workshops etc.
• useful adresses

Professionalism is important to us, so members are tested on:

• knowledge, education, experience, technical aptitude and related position (e.g. working as a teacher)
• good businessmanship
• presentation of expositions
• the acquisition of commissions
• scholarships
• presentation of their ceramic product.

As a strong countrywide association NVK is the main communication partner for government and industry.

To look after the interests of our trade we consult with related organisaties such as BNO, BBK, HBA and AVA.

NVK considers professionalism to be of paramount importance.
Therefore a great number of member activities are organised that contribute to the development of ceramics and the presentation of our trade.
Recent examples of such member-activities are:

• masterclass terra sigillata in collaboration with EKWC
• exposition and publications around Osseklei in Losser (Holland)
• seminar on education in ceramics
• public relations postcards
• supporting the CKC podium day
• NVK-presentation on several markets
• exhibitions in Holland and abroad

Keramiek (Ceramics) This bimonthly journal intends to enlarge the knowledge about ceramics amongst the public.
It consists of topical information about ceramics, NVK and varied items about artists/ceramists and their work, a comprehensive agenda of exhibitions and an overview of new developments in Holland and abroad.
